Between Breaths: A Sonic Memoir
with gamin
Saturday, August 23rd, 2025
The Stringed Crane Conservatory is thrilled to invite you to join us in the saz workshop for a very special performance with renowned Korean wind instrumentalist and scholar, gamin.

gamin offers an intimate solo performance that weaves together sound, memory, and identity. Drawing from her personal monograph on family history and cultural heritage, she brings the voices of her ancestors to life through the traditional winds - piri, saenghwang, and taepyeongso - telling a story of migration, resilience, and belonging.

Through improvisation and traditional Korean modes, this performance becomes both a personal ritual and a shared reflection. Between Breaths explores what it means to carry a lineage—musically, spiritually, and emotionally—while living between places, languages, and histories. The result is a sonic memoir where every breath holds generations of memory and quiet strength.
